The 30th November saw the Ashford Business Awards 2017 award ceremony held at the Ashford International Hotel. The awards celebrate small and medium-sized businesses in Ashford, Hythe, Romney Marsh, Folkestone, Deal and Dover. We’re delighted to announce that Noted in Style were victorious on the night, taking home a sparkling new trophy – the Small Business Award (aka The Big One!)
Having our efforts and achievements recognised in this manner is extremely moving, given that just five years ago the company consisted of one person running things from a spare bedroom. Since then we’ve grown into a team of thirteen people plus two directors and a have a portfolio of well-received work for some of the world’s largest brands, that we are very proud of.
We were shortlisted for two awards on the night; Customer Service as well as overall Small Business of the year. With strong candidates nominated in both categories, the Customer Service award was deservedly handed to Ashford-based family removals company Colin Batt Removals, who wowed judges with their commitment to training staff in excellent customer service.
The Small Business award intended to recognise a business that demonstrated consistent growth backed by a strong financial performance, whilst having a clear understanding of the markets it operates in. We were therefore delighted when we were announced as the winner, especially given the calibre of the established businesses we were up against. Following on from the win our Business Director reflected that “it’s such an honour and a delight to have won the award, given that there were so many great businesses in the category. It’s a real testament to our team’s hard work and commitment, as the business only succeeds because of the great team we have. It was particularly pertinent for me personally too, as the Institute of Directors were one of the main sponsors and I joined the Institute earlier this year.”
The evening at the Ashford Business Awards was inspiring and well-hosted. Being among so many diverse local Kent businesses was a motivating experience as well as heartwarming, as the room had an atmosphere of team-work and community about it. It was fantastic to meet the close-knit teams of the other winners and nominees, such as double award winners and web development specialists Space Between (Creative/Digital and Start-Up Awards), speciality coffee roasters and shops Lost Sheep Coffee (Hospitality Award winners) and Ashford based ice cream experts Simply Ice Cream (winners of the Innovation Award) – each one reinforcing the current encouraging state of business at all levels in Kent, and its promising future.
Our goals, to bring traditional craftsmanship back to Britain, to use an increasing amount of environmentally friendly and UK sourced materials and to provide employment for our local community are now firmly within reach, and we think the future for Noted in Style is looking promising!
