Christmas countdown – what’s on 2014’s wish-list?

With 30 shopping days left until Christmas, a recent survey suggests the average consumer will spend around £445 on presents this year – £132 of that going on gifts for the children. And what are the little ones hoping to find under the tree? Well, according to Hamleys‘ Top Ten list, it looks like the 2014 wish-list has gone high-tech with toys such as My Friend Cayla, a digital doll with Google’s speech-to-text technology which enables her to answer questions by searching the internet. Also sought after this year is the DohVinci Deluxe Styler which allows the kids to become 3D designers, while the snappiest dressed young ladies can now have a bag that changes colour to match their outfit with the Barbie Colour Change Bag – the stuff of science fiction!

Recycled and upcycled gifts are becoming more popular for the grown-ups with a shift towards spreading seasonal joy while saving the planet at the same time, and these coasters – made from either layered pieces of comic book or reading books – are perfect for brightening up the office desk.
