Did Banksy visit Folkestone?

Has Banksy visited Folkestone this weekend? A piece of graffiti art has sprung up in Folkestone town centre on a wall in the recently regenerated Payers Park. The artwork is believed to be by the pseudonymous UK-based graffiti artist himself, Banksy.

Folkestone Banksy at Payers Park

Appearing midway through Folkestone Triennial, the possible Banksy artwork has arrived at an exciting time for the town; and after another high profile participating artist, Yoko Ono visited last week to take a look at the Triennial artworks as well as the town’s First World War exhibition at the Grace Hill library.

The new stencilled artwork, very much in Banksy’s satirical, dark humour style is creating much speculation across social media as to its authenticity; with disbelievers stating the piece is not up to Banky’s usual standard, while believers suggest, among other interpretations, that the work is a possible comment from Banksy on how the majority of the Triennial art is transitory, and that is why the plinth is empty.

We’re great lovers of art here at Noted in Style, but wouldn’t recommend doing this on walls, unless they are your own. So, instead, why not grab a good quality notebook and fill the pages with graffiti inspired art. Who knows, you could be the next Banksy!
