Last night the 85th Academy Awards took place; exactly two weeks after the BAFTAs. So how did the winners shape up across the Atlantic? – did the British Academy and the American Academy agree…
Best Leading Actor: Bafta & Oscar – Daniel Day Lewis;
Best Supporting Actor: Bafta & Oscar – Christoph Waltz;
Best Leading Actress: Bafta- Emmanuelle Riva Oscar- Jennifer Lawrence;
Best Supporting Actress: Bafta & Oscar- Anne Hathaway;
Best Film: Bafta & Oscar- Argo;
Best Director: Bafta- Ben Affleck Oscar- Ang Lee.
So some minor differences, but not so different after all. Another thing the two ceremonies have in common is gold. Whether it is a golden mask or statuette, winners receive an award that glitters.
